During the 90s I was fortunate
enough to join, organise and assist with a number of
mountaineering expeditions and trips. Some of these
provided me with experiences and memories that are without
question my most valued possessions. Several of these
expeditions were relatively high-profile, and amongst the
high points were the Diamond Couloir on Mt Kenya in '94 and
Denali in '95. However, since 2001 my focus has shifted
back towards low-profile trips. For me, visiting the more
remote regions of the planet is really about getting away
and finding that elusive time and
place, enjoying the company of
good friends, and letting one's mind embrace freedom and
solitude. I find mountain travel one of the most
relaxing pursuits, crossing passes and satiating
curiosity, filling in one's personal map of an area.
